AMERICAN MEXICAN WAR CIVIL WAR HIGH GRADE UNMARKED AMES MILITIA SWORD

AMERICAN MEXICAN WAR CIVIL WAR HIGH GRADE UNMARKED AMES MILITIA SWORD

PRESERVING AMERICAN HISTORY AMERICAN MEXICAN WAR CIVIL WAR,CARRIED HIGH OFFICER SWORD CA 1840-48. MEASURES 37 1/2 INCHES OVERALL WITH A 31 1/2 INCH BLADE.  THIS IS AN UNMARKED AMES MADE AROUND 1845 , VERY RARE NOT MANY COME TO MARKET. SMALL CRACK IN THE BONE- IVO CONSUISTANT WITH AGE.

Ames is probably the most desirable maker amongst American sword collectors.  All things considered equal, these swords will almost certainly command a premium above their counterparts.  There is much already written about the The Ames Sword Company (herein referred to as "Ames").  In my opinion, Civil War Cavalry & Artillery Sabers by John Thillman and The Ames Sword Company 1835 - 1865 by John Hamilton, will cover most of the collector's curiosities.
