Manufactured: unknown Maker: unknown Year: Civil War Model: M 1850 Foot Officer Sword CSA - M 1850 Foot Officer Sword. Mysterious sword here, a Confederate sword from the west (Ohio). All components of the sword exhibit the quality you would normally see in a Union sword. High quality casting of guard and pommel cap. Grip wrap is leather but wire is not the type typically seen on a confederate sword as well as grip shape. Scabbard construction is also typical of a Union sword. Mounts and drag have good casting and are retained by screws and not pinned. The blade is bright with minor casting flaws. Large unstopped fuller and no secondary fuller which is typical for CSA product. Obverse etch is cross hatching / 7.5 inch empty panel -appears etch was buffed off / foliate. Reverse is same as obverse but buffed panel is 8.5 inches. The real mystery is the flat of the blade is etched J. Luther Cin. O. Roll over to Zoom Roll over to Zoom
